In brief, a scholarly article is an article that is published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Scholarly articles provide an in-depth examination of a specific topic, and almost always include a bibliography - a list of sources upon which the writer of the article based her or his research. The article is then submitted for review by a panel of experts in the field before being published. This process is designed to insure the authority and reliability of the infomation presented in the article, and by extension, the journal in which it is published.

You can find scholarly articles here in the Library by browsing the journals available in the Periodical Area (2nd Floor, northeast portion of the building) or by looking up topics in a database of scholarly journals. Ask a Librarian for help!
