If USMA Library does not have the item you're looking for, we may be able to order it from another library. This is called Inter-Library Loan (ILL).
USMA Library uses two types of ILL: ConnectNY (CNY) and ILLIAD.
ConnectNY is a Library Consortium (or cooperative group) that includes university libraries throughout New York State. ConnectNY should be the first place you attempt to find a book that the USMA Library does not have, since it is faster and less costly to borrow from within this consortium. ConnectNY is meant only for requesting books; for journal articles (and for books not available through CNY), you will use ILLIAD.
To search CNY, go to ConnectNY.info, or use this box when you see it pop up in Scout:
Search for your title. If it appears in the CNY catalog, you simply click on the item title, then on “Request This Item” and enter your name and Library account number (for cadets: your C number, for faculty: the number on the back of your CAC), and place your order. In most cases, your book will arrive within 72 hours of your request, and you will receive a notification email to pick it up at the Circulation Desk.
If you are not able to find your desired item in ConnectNY, ILLIAD is the next step. To use ILLIAD, you must set up an account here. To make a request, please fill in all the information you know about the particular resource you want. Journal articles are often emailed within hours or a day of the request. Books may take a week or two to arrive via mail. When your requested item arrives and is ready for pick-up, you will receive a notification through email to pick it up at the Circulation Desk.
